Citizens should do:

• Monitor weather forecasts.

• Stay out of the sun during the hottest times of the day.

• Wear light-colored, lightweight clothing, hat and sunscreen.

• Those responsible for construction crews and large outdoor events should make plans for
providing shade, water and places for people to cool off.

• Those caring for the elderly and disabled should ensure they are not endangered by the
upcoming hot weather.

• If loss of power: leave refrigerator and freezer doors shut.

• If temperatures are 95 degrees or higher, put a fan in the window to blow hot air out of your
home.

• Check on neighbors.

• Check with pharmacist or doctor on how medications could affect you during heat.
