TRH 7-Day Minimum Remains in Effect in Minocqua

Oneida County recently modified its Tourist Rooming House ordinance to allow one rental per seven day period, but no longer placing a minimum on the length of stay. For Oenida County’s ordinaince, this means that the seven-day minimum rental period is no longer in effect, provided there is not more than one renter per 7-day period.

However, the change at the County level will not change the status of the seven-day minimum for tourist rooming houses within the Town of Minocqua. The Minocqua Town Board has affirmed that the seven-day minimum rental period will remain in place in the Town of Minocqua, and this requirement is not superseded by the County’s change.

Tourist rooming houses in the Town of Minocqua still cannot advertise or otherwise offer rental periods of less than 7 consecutive days.

The seven-day minimum rental period will continue to be enforced in the Town of Minocqua, with penalties outlined in the Minocqua short-term rentals ordinance, including penalties, fees and possible revocation.

This 7-day minimum rental period is applicable to tourist rooming houses in the following Zoning Districts:

Single Family Residential (District 2)

Residential and Retail (District 4)

Rural Residential (District 15)

Forestry (District 1a)
